  2. hope.tar.Z:    Latest version of fully lazy Hope.  Tested only on Sun-3s and
  3.         Sun-4s.  Should compile on any UNIX system.

  5. machope.tar.Z:    Much earlier version of fully lazy Hope.  Has been compiled with
  6.         Lightspeed C and tested on Macs.
  7.  
  8. pchope.tar.Z:    Same early version with much weaker memory management.  Has
  9.         been compiled with Turbo C and tested on PC-XTs.

  11. test_suite.tar.Z: Contains test source files (*.in) which should produce output
  12.           equivalent to test target files (*.out).  These are included
  13.           in the UNIX distribution.  There is also a file called
  14.           "checks".  It is a UNIX shell script that hides the testing
  15.           completely, but it Mac and PC users will need to run the tests
  16.           by hand.  Note that the `.in' suffix must be removed before
  17.           importation into Hope.  There may also be some slight
  18.           textual discrepancies between the UNIX output and the older
  19.           versions.
